Evaluation
What went well –
On the date of the party and the running up to it everything ran very smoothly. Nothing at all went wrong for example everyone was on time and everyone understood the reason for the party. We ended up having a lot of good props for example wigs, glasses, many cameras, alcohol, and headbands. People brought all of their own things to the party which really worked as it meant we had more things to work with in the actual film. The editing of the video really went well and to plan. For example when it came to that part we worked very well as a group to decided what parts should go where and what order everything should go in.
What didn’t go so well –
When working within a bigger group even though most of our group turned up there was one person that didn’t however. This did have a large effect on the group as it put extra work on others within the group when it was unnecessary. The same thing happened with the editing part of the entire film. It didn’t make too much of a difference to the end product because we pulled together as a team to get everything finished well within time however it is frustrating.
The editing took us 2 weeks. This included putting the video onto out programme on our laptop and putting it all together. It was quite a quick process since we all knew what we had to do and all agreed on most things which helped things run much more smoothly. We had no difficulties when evaluating our video.
Our target audience was for around the 18-25 years. The reason for this is that it included a range of activities for that age range from drinking, smoking which we thought was more of that age rather than a higher age range for example 40’s plus. The age ranges that were invited to the party ranged from around 18 – 21. This worked very well as it hit right within our age range. This didn’t give off any mixe3d signals about the specific audience as there was only one audience within the video.
We ended up having a lot of good props for example wigs, glasses, many cameras, alcohol, and headbands. People brought all of their own things to the party which really worked as it meant we had more things to work with in the actual film. We used 2 Nikons 3100’s to film our video. These props made the video much more exciting as well as added detail and it wasn’t just the same thing being repeated as the video went on. This helped us fill the space of the song realty well because there were a range of activities going on with the props for example people walking through the door with cowboy hats on and people wearing odd glasses which catered for more around the aged 18 years of age more than the older end of the scale.
On the lead up to the party in the video we thought that it would be a good idea to put the lead up to the party and not just the actual party taking place. We thought as a group this would be better and more exciting because often at a party no one sees the getting ready at others houses and the ‘pre drinking’ that does on. Once we had done that we decided to film the journey on the way there. This was better for the build-up to the party so that the video wouldn’t just kick off straight away with people dancing and drinking. This really helped build up the atmosphere to the party. Another piece of footage that we filmed was pouring out drinks for the party before people arrived and added them throughout the video. We thought this was a great build-up to the video and it really fitted in well.
As a group we planned the entire party for around 2 weeks. We sat down and all took on different roles within the group. For example one was to be the person inviting people, it was my job to host the party, mine and Hayley took the videos for the party, people brought props, made music playlists and decided on the times and dates for the occasion. The planning did not take long because we all knew what we were working tor=wards and we wanted our video to turn out like and our final piece really showed and worked exactly the way that we had planned.
Out of the group my job was to host the party and film some of the video. Since it was my idea to host the party I felt like I had a very large part to play in this. I decided to host the party at my house. As a group we decided on the times and when I was available to host it at my house. This all worked really well and I took this role on quite well. I also filmed throughout the party and a lot of my clips were used during the video. My last role was to help edit the video and clips with the rest of the group. This went really well as we could all help each other n this role and it went all according to plan. All of my 3 roles went very well. I didn’t experience any problems throughout the making of the video and I believe that I did the best that I could, using the tools that I had.
I believe that our video overall was excellent and our team work really showed in this specific task. We had a lot of fun whilst carrying out our tasks and party. If I was to re do this task once more with more time I would do everything the same again however I would invite more people to make our party a lot larger. Apart from this everything was brilliant.
